others that remain wounded, paralyzed by guns. i see it on the front lines in my cities and other cities across america. the urgen sill is there. and now, hopefully, more people are seeing if you don't solve this problem, it's going to continue to pop up around our country. and this is the beauty of it in my opinion. this is almost the elegance of it. that the majority of americans, the majority of gun owners, the overall majority of members agree on sensible gun laws that will make a dramatic difference. 74% of nra members agree with most of us that if you have a criminal conviction, that criminals should not be able to buy guns. and even at higher levels, when you think about the reality, that if you are a suspected terrorist in america, you can go to the secondary gun market and buy a weapon and conduct the kind of terrorism we saw in mumbai which was done with automatic and semi-automatic weapons. this is the call of our country. to do what the overall majority thinks is right. one out of every two women murdered with a gun are murdered by an intimate, by someone that they know well.

, no medicine, a bombed out hospital, and a lot of very, very desperate civilians in syria's largest city. it was after filing that devastating report that richard engel and his team were captured. >> we were driving in syria, about five days ago in what we thought was a rebel-controlled area. we were with some of the rebels. and as we were moving down the road, a group of gunmen just literally jumped out of the trees and bushes on the side of the road. there were probably 15 gunmen. they were wearing ski masks. they were heavily armed. they dragged us out of the car. they had a container truck positioned, waiting by the side of the road. they put us into that container truck. we were with some gunmen, some rebels who were escorting us. they executed one of them on the spot. then they took us to a series of safe houses and interrogation places, and they kept us blindfolded, bound. we weren't physically beaten or tortured. it was a lot of psychological torture, threats of being killed. they made us choose which one of us would be shot first. and when we refused, there were mock shootings.

tragedies that visit small towns and big cities all across america every day. >> the president today getting pretty specific about what kind of reform he is aiming for. he also explained his plan for how to get there, which is also a pretty specific plan. >> the fact that this problem is complex can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing. the fact that we can't prevent every act of violence doesn't mean we can't steadily reduce the violence and prevent the very worst violence. that's why i've asked the vice president to lead an effort that includes members of my cabinet and outside organizations to come up with a set of concrete proposals no later than january, proposals that i then intend to push without delay. this is not some washington commission. this is not something where folks are going to be studying the issue for six months and publishing a report that gets read and then pushed aside. this is a team that has a very specific task, to pull together real reforms right now. i asked joe to lead this effort in part because he wrote the 1994 crime bill that helped law enforcement bring

into that type, ted bund city a classic. and these are people who are not mentally ill. they know exactly what they're doing. they're very capable. they're not out of reality. they just have no empathy for other people. they don't care. and with sadistic psychopaths, they actually enjoy inflicting pain on others. they're doing it because they want to, and they want to do this horrific thing. we have those two. believe it or not, the other turns out to be suicidally depressed people. and they're angrily depressives. we don't normally equate anger with depression. psychologists talk about depression as anger turned inward. so you're beating up on yourself. you're presenting outwardly you're this morose beaten down person because you've been beating yourself up. but sometimes in a small number of cases when you turn that outward, then we have something like this. and most often when a deeply depressed, angry person does that, he will normally inflict it either just on himself, he'll commit suicide. the next wider thing is he will attack the person he feels to blame. so if it's his parents, his gi

hospitals in the city that had to close down entirely. and that has meant that emergency rooms and other facilities in the remaining still open hospitals in the city have been overwhelmed with a big increase in patients. the whole thing was and is a mess. well, when we reported on that dire situation at the veterans hospital a few weeks ago, the most dire part of it was the prospect that it would never reopen. they were not even making estimates of when it might open again, if ever, which is a daunting thing for the largest city in the country which has a huge concentration of veterans. but as i said, this is the good news part of it. and there is some good news here. after refusing to initially say if that hospital was ever going to come back, the v.a. has finally announced a reopen date for that hospital. they say they will reopen the outpatient clinic, at least at the manhattan v.a. hospital in march. there is no word yet on when the in-patient facility will be open. but you know what? for a place that we didn't know was ever going to reopen ever, this is not a bad start. so that is t

york city for benghazi is really a stretch. she was the werngs who went out on sunday television. and she said today to brian williams that she is not blameless. i think there was a lack of care with the talking points and the republicans seized on it and claims she was being political and trying to be political at a key point in the presidential election campaign, which she strongly denies. >> but you're saying that the president's statements to that effect were not enough because they were not backed up with essentially procedural support for her to be fighting these attacks that could have happened had he nominated her. >> once she's nominated she is armed with the white house counsel's office-w every wise person, man or woman in washington who would be assigned to her to get her through the nomination process. but she was left -- she said she didn't feel that she's a victim here, but she certainly did acknowledge to brian that she thinks politics played a part. and i don't think there's any way to deny that. now, the fact that he had an alternative nominee who is so well qual
